We all wonder what an Entrepreneur gets up to daily, well now is your chance to see what Jordan Daykin CEO of GripIt, gets up to day to day. Take a guess, what do you think he gets up to? Is it as exciting as you think?
Well that question is just about to be answered….
Jordan is always busy there is never a dull day when in the office at GripIt, from replying to hundreds of emails to dealing with production and manufacturing.
There are 37 staff at GripIt who all play an integral part in the day to day running, therefore Jordan is always communicating with them to make sure everything is going as smoothly as possible and if there are any problems that need to be solved.
You will find Jordan at his desk with the air condition blasting out on full cold, we like to call to his office the fridge (a place where you must take your jackets), or you could find him in meetings that normally involve other managers for example sales manager, production manager, NPI manager or the finance manager. These meetings can last anything from 20 minutes to a couple of hours, all dependant on what needs to be discussed.
Jordan travels to London to attend meetings with Deborah to make her aware of what’s happening and give updates. Some days involves filming for exciting things that are up and coming such as the Dragons’ Den The “Pitches to Riches” show on the BBC (this was filmed at GripIt HQ), QVC, This Morning and much more. Jordan recently went to the ITV Studios to go on This Morning with Deborah, where he met Philip and Holly to discuss GripIt, Dragons’ Den and also the “Pitches to Riches” show that was being shown on the weekend. Behind the scenes in the Green room while waiting to go on air, Jordan was met by Rylan Clark, Keith Lemon and Amy Winehouse’s Dad.
Due to GripIt expanding and shortly going over to the US Jordan and Nicky (sales manager), have had some exciting trips to the US, meaning they had to go over for a full week, the day time consisted of meetings with big names such as Home Depot and Lowes which was very exciting as they are shortly going to be stocking GripIt, but the night involved shopping sprees in the big malls and eating out at lovely American restaurants (in fact most of the staff gave lists of what they would like them to bring back from shops), However the evening also involved extra research and fine tuning presentations for the meetings. GripIt will also be going over to Australia, Dubai and South Africa so it may involve some amazing trips to those locations for Jordan. Jordan and Nicky also met with UKTI representatives.
Lots of newspaper and magazine editors like to interview Jordan (you may have seen some of these articles) therefore they all like to come and do this at GripIt, allowing them to see the machines, production and the offices. They like to have a nose and see what working life is really like here.
GripIt takes part in lots of exhibitions around the country, which means members of the team get to go and show the product off and stay a way for a couple of nights, lots of the team go out on the night and do a bit of exploring. Recently GripIt exhibited at Grand Designs Live at the ExCel in London. Whilst exhibiting Jordan and the staff had an evening at the Shard indulging in cocktails and food, they also ventured to the Sugar Hut in Essex where they bumped in to Gemma Collins from TOWIE.
Last year on the 17th September Jordan, members of his family and also some GripIt staff attended the charity ball for Tusk, this is a charity Deborah is a patron for, the charity campaign against poaching of endangered species but also work to ensure the species thrive. The event took place in London in Syon House which is the home of the Duke & Duchess of Northumberland. The ball involved a 3 course meal, Auction (some of the prizes being trips away on a private yacht, VIP tickets to Glastonbury, Artwork, Safari, Photography, Clothes and Jewelry and a car from Land Rover), Raffle and then a speech from Prince William (also patron of the charity) and a performance from singer Joss Stone. There were many high profile guests that attended the ball such as Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Ruth Lansford and Eamonn Holmes (who were filming How the other half live at the time) and lots more.
On the subject of charity, Jordan likes to inspire and motivate others to do this he actively visits local schools doing a presentation where he talks about how he got to where he is now and where he would like to be in the future, students find this very motivating. Jordan also takes part in discussions about small businesses and government support, one of these talks involved taking a visit to Number 10 Downing Street.
With such a busy work life, Jordan likes a relaxing holiday as we all do, as it was Jordan’s 21st this year he treated himself and his Fiancé Laura to a luxurious trip to the Maldives. Where he chilled before coming back and starting his work life again. Considering that Jordan’s mind is never to far away from business, he still kept in touch with his team while he was away.
So now you know what an entrepreneur gets up to in his business routine, was it as exciting as you thought was? We will leave that for you to decide.
